This is Ginny, a high school senior. For her senior project she chose wood carving, and she had never, ever carved anything before. For reasons know only to herself, she wanted to carve a “turtle bowl”. And she did!

We worked in two hour blocks a couple of times each week for five months. This was a crash coarse in wood, tools and techniques. I carved one along with her and demonstrated each step. She did all her own work except for cutting the blank out on a bandsaw.
